Barrack’s Bullshit Bingo
Several weeks ago I received an email entitled “Barrack’s Bullshit Bingo” and I chuckled to myself as I read the rules of the game. I was ready to “forward” the email to my friends and family but stopped dead in my tracks when a thought came to my snarky mind. Mother’s Day was fast approaching and knowing my mother’s addiction to bingo and her dislike of Obama I knew I had to make this game come to life.
I asked my husband to change the bingo card from black & white to a more patriotic red, white & blue. Then I added a red colored poster board to the back of it and had the whole thing laminated. I purchased red, white & blue stars to use as place markers for the game card and little American flags to wave with each bingo game won. I placed it all in a patriotic decorated basket hoping that she would like my creative invention. Just in case she didn’t like it, I also purchased a gift card so she could go shopping. Bingo is her passion and shopping is her next favorite thing to do. So, I felt I was covered either way!
When I handed her the game on Mother’s Day, I explained to her that she should keep the game card on the little side table next to her comfy chair. This way, every time that Obama appeared on television and said one of his many “famous” one-liners, she could cover the appropriate square with a star. As in any bingo game, once she covered a line vertically, horizontally or diagonally a bingo win was hers. However, I told her that instead of yelling “bingo” she should raise her little flag wave it and yell “BULLSHIT!”
Now, I can’t say for sure if it was the game that made her laugh hysterically or all the sangria she had consumed but I like to think it was the little basket of “bullshit” fun that made her Mother’s Day a little more memorable.
